liberate your art - Blog Hop

I have been a part of Liberate Your Art since its beginning in 2011.  I had been following Kat's blog and when she posted that she wanted to start a postcard swap with other artist, I knew I had to be apart of it.
As it turns out I had just been diagnosed with Breast Cancer in 2011, so sharing my photos with other artists and photographers would help me through my chemo treatment.
so this is year as I am trying to get my new normal life together.

My man stood by me during Breast Cancer

I count my blessings everyday not only because I am still here on this journey but because I have a man in my life who stood by me.
Greg and I have been through alot in our 23 yrs together. He had prostate cancer in 2008 and I was diagnosed with Breast cancer in 2011.
I was there for him during every doctor appointment, test, during surgery and I am still here.  So I was so happy he chose to stand by me through Breast Cancer when so many men leave their wives.  He may make me nuts sometimes with all the healthy eating tips but I know he does it because he wants me around.

the Chemo Port

2 1/2 yrs after having it put in, I had chemo port removed April 2, 2014.  Surgery always makes me nervous.  My surgeon snapped this photo of the port after taking it out and cleaning it up.   Yes I wanted to photograph it but the "happy juice" knocks me right out in OR!!  I am a light weight!!

Rock of Ages

I finally got to go see the Broadway show Rock of Ages thanks to my awesome sister in law Connie.  We took an early train into the city and started out looking for eggs in the big Easter egg hunt in NYC.  In total we found 26 and then went to grab lunch at Jekyll & Hyde.  I could have bought every skull in the place - lol - seriously!!!

Then it was time for Rock of Ages.  I was shaking I was so excited and almost forgot a friend had arranged a special surprise for me.  OMG was I surprised and happy, I got a goody bag with autographed program, poster, shot glass and a special sign for me with my name on it.
The show was AWESOME.   Connie and I laughed, sang and clapped - we had a rockin' good time.

the Chemo Port is OUT!!

Yes I had surgery to remove it April 2.  Here are some photos of Art work by my co worker and friend Andi to celebrate the removal of the Chemo port.  I didn't get to take photos in operating room because I went right out when they gave me the happy juice.  Oh well maybe at the follow up visit I get a photo of the port so you see what was inside me for 2 1/2 yrs.  I feel a freedom now that it is out.
I will be going to see Rock of Ages with my sister in law on Sunday to celebrate the removal - so excited to see this show.
Peace love photography!!

Chemo aport removal is tomorrow

So I decided to paint flower over the port as a way of saying good bye to it

I was pet sitting when I did this lovely artwork and my friend Andi did the artwork in the last photo

By the way I am a photographer not an artist so my flower is sad looking but its by me

I drew a heart to send live to the good fairies of chemo for helping me

Artwork by Andi - she painted my head for Chemo 2 times so I had to ask her to paint the final goodbye for my chemo port
